Our Organization

Underdog Railroad Canada is a Not-for-Profit, Toronto based all breed animal rescue. We are committed to the rescue of dogs and cats from high-kill shelters everywhere, and we assist in rehoming dogs and cats when needed. We are a group of volunteers who provide foster homes during the transition period, and rehabilitate, where possible, animals before finding them forever homes.

We provide the necessary vet care to our animals prior to adoption to ensure each animal enters their new home fully vaccinated and altered (we make exceptions for puppies and some large breeds, but a spay neuter agreement is signed at adoption).

UDR was founded in 2012, and since then we have grown larger than we ever could have imagined. We are a group of three volunteers who run this rescue with the help of our supporters. Please know that it can take some time to get a response from us as we try to fit everything in our busy schedules.

To become a foster, please begin by filling out a foster application and we can assess what dog or cat might be the best fit for you. To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application. This is the first step towards adoption and no meet and greets will take place until we can assess a fit. For Online adoption and Foster Applications please go to ONLINE FOSTER & ADOPTION FORMS

We have processes in place as our #1 concern is that of the animals and their success in a new home. We try to make the best adoptive choice for the animal in question, but if an adoption doesn’t work out we will take and animal back within a reasonable period of time, and start the process over again. We ask everyone to complete an adoption application to help us ensure we set up meetings with good candidates for the specific animal. We do ask our fosters to help in this evaluation process when they assist in meetings with their foster. Although we know not everyone likes the process; it is the process – we do a home visit at the time of adoption to ensure the fit is a good, especially if there are other animals in the home.
